About Into the Springs

Sharing the same work space for a weekend brings accomplished instructors and writers together. Not only do featured guest instructors give presentations, but the participants are free to engage in the process with questions and comments.

Offering a focused yet casual environment encourages an open exchange of ideas, questions and applications where writers can advance their skills and increase their presence in the writing community.

Providing a stage to celebrate writing by offering registered authors to sell their most recent book, and, later, Open Mic Readings where registrants may give seven-minutes-in-length stories and essays. Professional actors may read a work if a writer is hesitant to read. These events are open to the public as audience. A cash bar is available.

In addition to sessions, Into the Springs offers optional events to celebrate your writing. Book Sales and Open Mic Readings are open to a public audience.

Book Sales, Signatures & Selfies

On Saturday evening, authors set up at tables with one of their latest books, providing opportunities for conversation, selfies and self-promotion. Included is the Epic Book Shop, an iconic bookstore in Yellow Springs.

Open Mic Readings

Also on Saturday evening, participants and staff may present a personal piece of writing, no longer than seven minutes in length. If hesitant to read, actors are available to read it. Set in the Banquet Hall with a cash bar, Open Mic makes for a celebratory evening.

A.M. Writing Activities

Early Saturday and Sunday, between 7-8 AM, attendees can participate, if they wish, in writing exercises for an hour. Hot tea and coffee are ready. When it ends, writers have an hour to relax or get breakfast before regular sessions begin at 9 AM.

Relaxed Yet Professional

Featured guest Instructors are encouraged to mingle with attendees during lunch, breaks, whenever they can. Doing so helps the reluctant or shy individual to get their questions answered if hesitant to ask in a larger forum. This interaction creates a sharing environment of the writing craft, the writing business and builds community.
